WTF are they thinking at RPN? (what's left in their programming anyway)

I know many of us Filipinos are speak both English and Filipino really well. Which makes the idea of RPN's Newswatch (Late Edition in particular) to dub quotes originally spoken in Filipino to English deserving a spot in the "WTF are they thinking?" ideas.

I know that as a government-owned station, it has a duty to adhere to the government's policy to improve the English-language proficiency of our people. But going as far as dubbing (like what the networks here do with imported dramas from Latin America and Asia) quotes originally in Filipino borders on the overreacting stage.

Unless this newscast is being catered to international markets ala CNN, (which I very, very much doubt at this point) I don't see any reason the people of RPN had to do that in the first place.

Don't take Filipinos generally as monolinguals, Orly Mercado.

On the other hand, Solar Entertainment is doing a decent job pumping up the network's airtime with C/S Network's programming. I just wish Solar would be more consistent in the promotion of their programming and avoid reruns as much as possible.
